## Size chosen by this tool

The Election Commission publishes composition rules for the Form 6 photograph — 4.5cm x 3.5cm, white background, unsigned colour, eyes open, both edges of the face visible — but no pixel size, file size or image format. Form 6 is a paste-a-photo paper form; the Commission specifies the print, not an upload.

Tool output dimensions: 35 × 45 mm. This is not a published government size requirement.

The pixel size below is ours, chosen so the same photo prints correctly at 4.5 x 3.5 cm and uploads cleanly through the Voters' Service Portal. The ECI does not publish these numbers and no portal check enforces them.

## Appearance and composition

- Background: White background — stated in both the Form 6 guidelines and on the form itself
- Glasses: Permitted; check the source for restrictions.
- Even lighting; no harsh shadows.
- Filters, beauty modes and retouching are forbidden.
- Color photo.
- Head coverings are permitted for religious reasons; check the source for conditions.
- Uniforms are restricted; check the source for exceptions.
- No earphones or wireless devices.

## Common rejection reasons

- Wrong photo size — The Form 6 guidelines specify 4.5cm x 3.5cm. A photo cut to a different size will not fit the space provided on the form

- Non-white background — Both the guidelines and the form itself require a white background; patterned or coloured backgrounds are rejected

- Face not fully visible — The form requires a frontal view of the full face, and the guidelines add that both edges of the face must be clearly visible. A turned head or a crop that cuts the sides of the face fails this

- Eyes not open — The guidelines state eyes must be open, so blinking, squinting or heavily shadowed eyes are grounds for rejection

- Photo is signed — Form 6 asks for an unsigned photograph; a signature across the image, common on older studio prints, invalidates it

- Photo not recent or not colour — The guidelines require a recent, good quality colour photograph. Black-and-white prints and visibly dated photos are rejected
