## Common rejection reasons

### Head proportion wrong

Head must measure 32-36mm from chin to crown (70-80% of frame). Too close to camera makes head too large; too far makes it too small.

What to do: Stand about 1.2m from the camera. Our cropper auto-frames to the correct ratio before checkout.

### Wearing glasses

BOCA technically allows clear-lens glasses, but strongly recommends removing them. In practice, lens glare, thick frames obscuring features, or incompatibility with foreign airport facial-recognition systems cause rejection at submission or border. Coloured or pupil-enlarging contact lenses are banned outright.

What to do: Remove your glasses for the safest result. Remove circle/coloured contacts.

### Smiling with teeth visible

Expression must be neutral with mouth closed. Smiling, parted lips, or showing teeth are grounds for rejection.

What to do: Practice a neutral expression in the mirror first. Relax your jaw with lips together.

### Hair covering ears or touching photo border

Both ears must be visible. Hair must not cover eyebrows, eyes, or touch the photo edge (women with long hair can touch the bottom edge only).

What to do: Tuck hair behind your ears. Pull long hair back if it would cover the face or touch the side or top edges.

### Selfie distortion or mirror image

Wide-angle smartphone selfies distort face and ear proportions and can break airport e-Gate facial recognition. Mirror images (the horizontally flipped selfie preview) are also banned.

What to do: Have someone else take the photo from about 1.2m away with the rear camera. Disable mirror/auto-flip in your camera settings.

### Digital retouching or beautification

BOCA bans all digital retouching, beauty filters, skin smoothing, and composite images. The resulting photo will fail facial-recognition validation at the airport e-Gate.

What to do: Turn off all beauty filters in your camera app. Use the native camera, not Snow or Meitu.
